Our Story
Butterfield Custom Foods is a USDA inspected, private label, food production company located in Noblesville, IN. We leverage decades of experience in kettle cooking, meat processing, and assembly to deliver world class products to our customers. Our partners include supermarkets, restaurants, convenience stores, big-box retailers, and other food production companies.
Originally established in 1981, Butterfield was an underperforming grocery store commissary with little outside business. Violi Foods LLC acquired it in 2007 and embarked upon establishing a reputation for manufacturing excellence. Coincident with this, Butterfield began methodically diversifying its product mix into retail, foodservice and convenience stores. The reimagined company has since expanded its Noblesville, IN location four times, added 200 employees, and grown eight-fold. Butterfield will continue to grow by adding other facilities—and will remain in the control of Frank Violi and DG Elmore.
Meet Our Owner
Frank Violi, owner and president of Butterfield Foods LLC, began his professional life in the Forest Products Industry, working for two Fortune 500 companies in finance, sales, marketing, strategic planning, and senior leadership. After 10 years, he joined a leveraged buyout of a large commercial printing company as vice president of sales and marketing. Upon a successful sale of the printing business, he purchased controlling interest in a contract electronics manufacturer. This affinity for contract manufacturing led to Frank and DG Elmore assembling a new investment group, Violi Foods LLC, to purchase the assets of Butterfield Foods, LLC in July 2007.
Frank graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Economics in 1980, and from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management with an MBA in 1983. He is actively involved in Young Presidents' Organization, serving as an officer and event champion for over 25 years.
Butterfield Custom Foods produces a variety of soups, sauces, entrees, side dishes, cooked proteins, and hand pulled meat products. We also specialize in assembly of casseroles, sandwiches, and other hand-held items. We are committed to a Quality Policy of "on time, defect free." Butterfield excels at food safety while delivering customized products that never miss the mark of your specifications.
Since 2011, our SQF 2000 Level 3 status has provided assurance that the products you buy from us have passed rigorous international standards for food safety and quality, including HACCP.
